oxygen lance nozzle

oxygen lance nozzle

The Water-cooled Oxygen Lance or Supersonic Oxygen Jet Lance with specially designed Copper Lance tip nozzle is an important tool used during Basic Oxygen Steelmaking process. It is used to blow pure oxygen at supersonic speeds over hot metal in a furnace, which ignites the carbon dissolved in steel, and converts it into carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which in turns raises the temperature of the furnace to 1700°C. This helps in melting the steel, and reducing the carbon content and impurities resulting in better quality steel.

The Water-cooled Oxygen lance has a specially designed copper tip that has nozzles designed at certain axes according to the furnace size, design, and the quality of steel required.

We manufacture and supply both Complete Water-cooled Oxygen Lance, and Copper Lance Tips with one or multiple nozzles as per clients requirement and design.

Description

Applications:

  • l Copper tuyeres are a critical component in basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking, where they are used to inject high-purity oxygen into the molten steel bath.
  • l The oxygen injection through the copper tuyeres promotes the rapid oxidation and removal of impurities such as carbon, silicon, and other elements, enabling the efficient refining of the steel composition.
  • l Copper tuyeres are widely employed in modern integrated steel mills and mini-mills, as they are an essential technology for achieving high-productivity and high-quality steel production.

Performances:

  • l The high thermal conductivity of copper allows the tuyeres to effectively transfer heat from the hot oxygen stream to the surrounding refractory materials, protecting the furnace structure.
  • l Careful design of the copper tuyere geometry, such as the nozzle shape and orientation, optimizes the oxygen injection patterns to maximize the efficiency of the steelmaking process.
  • l Copper tuyeres demonstrate excellent resistance to the extreme temperatures and corrosive environments encountered in BOF steelmaking, ensuring reliable and consistent performance over extended periods
